DISH THE DETAILS…

We are finally venturing a little further afield, this month opting to get out of the big shmoke and up to EDO in Belfast and let me tell you, it was like stepping into the pages of a Michelin Guide, but without having to sell a kidney to pay the bill. That’s because EDO just (deservedly) snagged a Bib Gourmand for 2023.

First off, the space. Imagine an industrial warehouse and a cosy living room had a love child—that’s Edo. It’s expansive but somehow they’ve managed to make it feel like you’re dining in your chic friend’s loft. You know, the one who effortlessly mixes vintage and modern and makes you question all your life choices?

Now, the staff. Oh my days, they were cooler than a cucumber gin and tonic on a hot summer’s day. Effortless, gorgeous, welcoming—the kind of cool you can’t fake. Actually, I’m going to say this – I was surprised by how big a vibe Belfast seems to be in general. We need to get out more often!

Head chef and owner Jonny Elliott is the man behind this culinary marvel. With a CV that boasts names like Gordon Ramsay and Gary Rhodes, you know you’re in for a treat. And the food? Oh, where do I even start?

The menu is designed with sharing in mind, perfect for the indecisive foodie in all of us. But a more traditional a la carte is available too. Your veggie / vegan best mate won’t go hungry either, because there is a dedicated menu for them too. Seriously – if you can’t find something you like here, you may need to do some soul-searching.

So, would I recommend Edo? This place is the full package—Michelin vibes without the Michelin price tag. I mean, what more could you ask for?

Cheers, lovelies! 🥂

O is for – Osteria Lucio

Osteria Lucio is very literally tucked away from the rest of Dublin in a building called The Malting Tower in Grand Canal Quay. The ingredients are seasonal, local and carefully selected for flavour and quality. The wines are all from Italian smallholdings. The coffee-infused Negronis are stupidly good. No really. Have two.
