DISH THE DETAILS…

Fish & chips is the ultimate treat. There is something about the meal that is reassuring, soothing, exciting and completely indulgent. But it’s bold without being regrettable, ya know?!

But Smithfield’s Fish Shop takes it to the next level. Elder sibling to Beach House + Bar Pez, Fish Shop sets the tone by blending slick, contemporary elegance with reliably fantastic seafood. Changed daily, the stripped-back menu will guarantee you are served only the freshest catch of the day.

But let’s talk wine because this restaurant is a gem of a wine bar too. While the food menu impresses with its simplicity, the wine list compensates with its extravagance. And if that intimidates you, please don’t feel overwhelmed because the Fish Shop team are extraordinarily knowledgeable and were just so helpful in guiding our selection. There are some really quirky pours on this menu. Let yourself go a little loose on the list, you won’t regret it.

However, there is one big thing any diner should be aware of when eating at Fish Shop…it will ruin fish & chips for you forever. The bland, dry, washed-out white fish from the chipper up the road doesn’t even compare. The lightest flakes of hake are delicately battered and served with irresistible hand-cut fries. Everything on the menu is the freshest of fresh; the flavours delicately balanced.

A real treat, without being “treat” prices. Cannot wait to return 💗

Cheers, lovelies! 🥂

O is for – Osteria Lucio

Osteria Lucio is very literally tucked away from the rest of Dublin in a building called The Malting Tower in Grand Canal Quay. The ingredients are seasonal, local and carefully selected for flavour and quality. The wines are all from Italian smallholdings. The coffee-infused Negronis are stupidly good. No really. Have two.
