DISH THE DETAILS…

Hawksmoor Dublin is honestly like entering a scene straight out of ‘The Great Gatsby’ – it’s a dazzling affair of art deco elegance and indulgence. Housed in what used to be the National Bank of Ireland, the ceilings are dizzyingly high and the space twinkles with chatter.

Our private dining experience began in the ‘None the Wiser’ dining room, named after a Dexter cow born in 1892. This space pays homage to native breed cattle, with walls graced by images of Dexter and Kerry cows, heifers, bulls, and steers. The meticulous attention to detail extends to a recreated winners board from the Dublin Agricultural Society Show of the late 1800s, making the room a charming nod to Irish agricultural history.

THE FOOD

If you are planning a group dining evening in Hawksmoor, be prepared to roll your way home because it promises to be an evening of regret-free indulgence.

The special sharing menus are designed to foster a communal dining experience, featuring classic Hawksmoor dishes and their legendary, dictionary-thick steaks. Each steak is cooked to perfection, sliced, and served family-style in cast-iron skillets alongside legendary sides and sauces.

Our feast included creamy mashed potatoes with rich gravy, the crispiest twice-cooked chips, sumptuous creamed spinach, and the irresistibly decadent baked mac & cheese. And just when you think you can’t possibly squeeze in another bite, the meal reaches a sweet crescendo with sticky toffee pudding and a light, airy meringue topped with fresh, seasonal fruit.

THE EXPERIENCE

The service at Hawksmoor Dublin was flawless, elevating our dining experience to new heights. The staff were not just servers but experts, providing attentive and knowledgeable service throughout the evening. The drinks menu was as impressive as the food, with an extensive selection that catered to all preferences, including a range of non-alcoholic options.

THE VERDICT

Hawksmoor Dublin delivers an experience that’s worth every penny. The combination of a discreet, hidden-away nook within this otherwise opulent setting, exquisite food, impeccable service, and overall ambience provides all the ingredients for a memorable night out. Whether it’s a special occasion or just to Treat Yoself, Hawksmoor Dublin is a stand-out option.

THE ALPHABET DINNERS JOURNEY CONTINUES NEXT MONTH…

Next month is a real treat as we head away to Ireland’s only Japanese restaurant with a Michelin star. Watch this space…

Cheers, crew! 🥂

O is for – Osteria Lucio

Osteria Lucio is very literally tucked away from the rest of Dublin in a building called The Malting Tower in Grand Canal Quay. The ingredients are seasonal, local and carefully selected for flavour and quality. The wines are all from Italian smallholdings. The coffee-infused Negronis are stupidly good. No really. Have two.
